Reviews of “Songwriter’s Dream”
Pat Hatherly received the 2009 AWOCM Lifetime Achievement Award and she put on quite a show for the crowd and showed them why she is so deserving of this award. The crowd was on their feet for a long time... Pat has a new CD out entitled “Songwriter’s Dram” that she is so proud of. It has many of Alberta's great female singers doing Pat’s original material... I have listened to it and it is wonderful... Way to go Pat.

“Pat Hatherly writes compelling songs about real life and the environment that surrounds her. In many ways her music resembles her own character – authentic, earthy, and enduring. Stories of lost love, betrayal and teenage pregnancy balance with those of hope, wonder, and determination, the moods set against fiery Northern Lights, warm Alberta skies, bleary rainstorms and the cold urban jungle.”

Calgary singer/songwriter, Pat Hatherly……took the bull by the horns, ….inviting 8 local female artists from different genres of music and put together a CD called “Songwriter’s Dream.” Each of the ladies recorded one of Hatherly’s songs. The album was officially released with a party at the Ironwood Stage and Grill on April 26th with Kim Reno, Clea Roddick, Deanna Dubbin, Sherry Kennedy, Ruth Purves-Smith, Cindy McLeod (who also handled emcee duties) performing the songs they recorded. Hatherly also performed to a full house. Backing-up the artists were Miles Jackson on keyboards, Brad Steckel on lead and acoustic guitar, drummer Steve Foster, Charlie Hase on pedal steel, Jim Lewis on bass and Terry Medd (lead and acoustic guitar) Craig Newnes, acoustic guitar. Kelly Kavanagh and Lana Floen were unable to perform due to prior engagements. Floen’s version of “Alberta Blue” on the CD is a killer with special guest Ian Tyson. What a fabulous day with the music of this truly talented songwriter.
